After the important meeting with the organizing committee and the municipal representatives of Vico and Mount Saint Angelo of the Umbra Forest, a change has been made with respect to the original program:
The 2 races in the city have been inverted – on June 24th the race will be in Mount Saint Angelo and onf June 25th the final race in Vico. This has been done firstly to facilitate the return of the athletes as Vico is closer to the race centre in Hotel Baia Santa Barbara and also for the Municipality of Vico to organize a festive evening on June 25th at 20:00 there will be free tasting of wonderful gastronomic delights typical of the Puglia region and music by the Friends of Orienteering Singer and Songwriter, Nicola Manfredi.
Prize Ceremony:
The winners of each category will honoured at the end of each race with the exception of the first day (this will give you free time to enjoy the beach!!), the Friday winners will be celebrated with the Saturday winners at 21:00 in the city centre of Vico del Gargano in Piazza S. Domenico and to follow a dance party.
On Sunday, the prize ceremony will be at about 14:00 immediately following the race in the Umbra Forest.
Where to have lunch?
Thanks to our restaurant committee, we were able to organize lunch at various restaurants (list will be available on site with the organizers) with a special price reserved for our Orienteering Group of €12,00 each – tickets to be purchased at the organizers office.
Guided Tour of Tremiti Island
On Monday the 23rd, we have organized a guided tour of Saint Nicola Island (this is not Nick Manfredi’s Island, our faithful Orienteering singer and songwriter has not been proclaimed a saint….Yet!!!) following a transfer to the Island of Saint Domino for sun bathing on the exclusive beach – don’t forget to pack your lunch for pick-nicking!!
Departure 9:00 and return 17:00 the approximate cost for the Orienteering Group is €30,00 each.
Tuesday race in Mount Saint Angelo as per the time schedule, prize ceremony to follow. You are welcome to use the changing rooms and showers located in the gymnasium hall of Mount Saint Angelo.
At 16:00 we have organized a free guided tour in English of the city centre of Mount Saint Angelo and at 18:00 a musical party in the city centre. Don’t forget your lunch tickets!
Wednesday, race in the city centre of Vico di Gargano, remember to purchase your lunch tickets!
At 19:00 in the auditorium there will be the final prize ceremony and at 20:00 it’s party time! Enjoy the local gastronomic specialties and music – grande festa!
Last week was the on site visit by the Finnish Markku Joensuu (head mapmaker) to verify the race maps and Daniele Danieli the course setter along with the race director Gabriele Viale – we are all ready to go…..are you ready to Follow the Sun!!!!
