Mediterranen Open Championship 2007 to start in March

Directly from the PWT experience, here it is without any doubt the biggest competition in the Mediterranean area and a good training opportunity for the coming O-season. As a matter of fact, the runners who took part last year at MOC for their winter preparation had good results at the WOC in Denmark (Kaisa Nilsson, Claus Bloch, Michal Smola, Dana Brozkova and others).

In 2005 the Elite winners were David Brickhill-Jones and Jeva Sargautyte (Puglia)
In 2006 the Elite winners were Michal Smola and Dana Brozkova (Sicily and Basilicata)
In 2007 there will be the third edition of MOC. Three races are programmed:

Friday, March 9 - Middle distance / forest / New map
Saturday, March 10 - Long distance / forest / New map
Sunday, March 11 - Sprint distance / park / New map

Total prize money for H/D Elite: 3.000 euro (800, 450, 250)

+ On Saturday, March 17, we will arrange a PWT-style sprint race, the Mediterranean Grand Prix. The competition will be held in an old town centre and the total prize money is 2.600 euro for the Elite classes (500, 300, 200, 150, 100, 50)

+ a huge free banquet for everybody after the Grand Prix

+ the best 6 runners in the Elite classes in MOC will get free hospitality as a bonus during the MOC CAMP (accommodation + breakfast + trainings)

From March 12 to 16, we will arrange O-training sessions every day, a few of them will be special:

"Sprint Day"
"Long Distance Day"
In the other days runners will find controls on the terrain and have free time for training.

Period goes from March 8 to 18 and it includes:

MOC Championship (3 days)
MOC Camp (5 days)
Mediterranean Grand Prix (1 day)

The total cost of the whole period is 299 euro, which includes: accommodation, breakfast, entry fee at MOC championship, MOC Camp and Mediterranean Grand Prinx, final banquet and a few local food tasting during the camp. Clubs and national teams are welcome.

Accomodation is in the new 5-stars residence “Villaggio del Catalano”, located in Castellaneta Marina - Taranto - Puglia.
